Still Crafting!

We're going to visit John's sister Barbara and husband Peter on Tuesday - back home on 1st May. They have lived in rural Spain for about seven years so we have visited many times. As it's now home from home and Barbara's a crafter we spend lots of time talking crafts and doing crafty things. And I wear a funny hat!

ATC Needlefelt with Poppies.

I enjoy hand needlefelting and I'm trying to improve. I like the green background and poppies, but the sky is a disaster.
It's all part of the learning curve, I doubt I'll swap this!

ATC Blossom Tree

I was feeling cross and sorry for myself when I came in from the doctors - had back x-ray result - I really knew what my problem was all along, spinal degeneration due to wear and tear - age and overweight not helping - not a lot to help make walking easier!
Well, the post had arrived and I had this lovely 'Blossom Tree' from Veri, a friend in Germany. As it's useless to be cross & sorry for myself I've cheered up - I was never one for the long walks anyway! Lets hope my hands and eyes stay well so that I can keep crafting!

A favourite

It's really GMT 07.30 Thursday 10th April

I made this 'Naive Flowers' ATC earlier this year and as it's a favourite I've not swapped it. I love the colours and the textures of the different fibres. I've always been inclined to do miniature, quite traditional and controlled art and crafting, and when I first saw ATCs about two years ago they became an outlet. I'd love to move on to bigger, more creative textile pieces but I seem to trapped in the ATC world. Although I have enjoyed it maybe I need to take a break and try something new. I doubt I'll do this as it's so much easier and quicker to make an ATC than to work on a bigger project!

Narcissus on text

Narcissus on text

I took this on a different background as an experiment - I think it would make a suitable sympathy card as it's turned out - sadly we all need one at some time.

ATC Lace, Felt, & Fibre

The Last Narcissus

There are very few daffodils and narcissi left in the garden now. This one was lying on the ground so I'll enjoy it indoors for a day or two, it's beautiful!

Arte y Pico Award

Oh well my IT skills won't win awards! I just couldn't work out how to paste all the info straight on.

Anyway many thanks smelli - never expected such a thing six days ago when I tentatively ventured into blogging!

I hope everyone will click the small verion below to enlarge it and see my appreciation of the five talented friends I have chosen to award.

Each one is in my links section.

Also it's really Tuesday 8th April - I wish I knew how to change the time system on here to GMT!

ATC Fabric with Butterfly

Printed fabric is top stitched, with beads, lace, and braid added.

ATCs Woodland Fabric Collage.

Will this be a Christmas card later this year?

Sentinels!

Pieris Bracts .....
....... I'm pleased to see that they're not frosted!

GMT -- it's Sunday 6thApril photo taken at 7.30am,

...... and I thought it was

Springtime!

Now we know what was in the big black clouds yesterday evening.

I hope the flowers are all safe under their pristine duvet!

ATC
A fabric background, a small amount of needlefelt - the flowers - and stitching with perle and embroidery cottons.

Edited Prints of Bamboo Fibre

Nine ATCs printed on inkjet fabric and ready for embellishment.
I have so many ATCs prepared for top stitching ..... I'd better get started!
It's really Saturday 5th April! Bamboo Fibre - Gorgeous Colours!
I called at a local needlework shop yesterday to buy a few embroidery cottons -
what did I see but packets of fantastic
Hand -Dyed Bamboo Fibre in several colours,
from Stef Francis.
So I spent far more than I had intended - as crafters always do!
This morning I've taken several photos, edited them into a variety of colour ways, and later I'll print them off ATC size on inkjet cotton fabric ready to embellish with threads, silk ribbon and beads. And I still have the lovely fibres to make needlefelt - so I think I made a great buy!
I just had to buy a few more beads too as they looked so appealing on the stand - I think I have enough to start my own bead shop already - why do we have this compulsion to buy so much???

Sepia
I've recently been exploring editing photos to use the images on cards I sell for charity.
I've made so many in pretty flower style that I think I need a change, but I still prefer flowers.
I was up early this morning, as usual, so made these Sepia prints which may make a few elegant cards when matted on cream and gold - I hope so!
Miniature

I painted this mini greetings card some time ago in the style of traditional ceramic decoration.
I have a collection of small jugs, not valuable, but chosen for their design and decoration. I love the traditional flower paintings that many ceramic houses used years ago and have been inspired to attempt to paint similar miniatures.

ATC Fabric Backgrounds

I've been making fabric backgrounds for ATCs - to embellish later.
I did a few more today and have decided that I have enough - there are 10 more, mostly plain. I'll be doing most of them when I'm on holiday later this month.
Needlefelting

This is new to me, I'm experimenting with lovely fibres, breaking needles, and generally enjoying playing. I'm making ATCs at present but hope to make a small wall hanging one day. The flowers card is made with wool tops.

G'd morning.

I'm not sure what I'll do of interest - time will tell!
